What is a cookie?

A cookie is a small text file placed on your device by a website. Cookies allow a website to remember information between page visits — for example, that you are logged in. Cookies do not contain executable code and cannot access other files on your device.

IP addresses are anonymised. We do not share this data with advertisers. You can decline or withdraw consent at any time.

🎓 A note on the student session cookie

The sppin_team cookie contains only a run identifier and a team identifier — both are random UUIDs assigned by the tutor when creating the simulation. It contains no student name, email, device fingerprint, or any personal information. The cookie expires at the end of the browser session or after 24 hours, whichever comes first. Students who clear their cookies simply need to log back in with their team code and PIN.

Managing and deleting cookies

You can control cookies through your browser settings. Note that disabling the essential cookies listed above will prevent login functionality from working — you will not be able to remain logged in as a tutor, admin, or student team.

Do Not Track

If you have accepted optional analytics cookies, enabling Do Not Track in your browser will cause Google Analytics to respect that signal. Alternatively, simply declining our cookie banner ensures no analytics cookies are set at all.

Changes to this policy

If we ever change the cookies we use — for example, if we add an analytics tool — we will update this page and, if the change is material, notify tutor account holders by email before the change takes effect.
